Manual handling training is priced per person, and the rate depends on three things: how many staff you are training, whether you are taking the manual handling course on its own or as part of a wider compliance library, and how long you need access for.

As a guide, most organisations we work with fall into one of three bands:

• Small teams (under 50 staff) - a flat per-seat rate, no minimum contract
• Growing organisations (50-500 staff) - volume pricing, with the rate reducing at each tier
• Enterprise and multi-site (500+ staff) - a platform rate covering the full compliance course library, not just manual handling

Yes. Every learner who completes the manual handling course and passes the short assessment can download a PDF certificate of completion immediately.

The certificate shows the learner's name, the course title, and the completion date. It is the document you hand to an auditor or inspector as evidence that the training was delivered.

Alongside the individual certificate, Sentrient keeps a permanent completion record for every learner. Managers can see immediately who has completed the training, who is in progress and who has not started, and export the whole lot as a compliance report.

No, and it is worth being precise about what that means, because the two terms get used loosely.

This is legally endorsed workplace compliance training. It has been reviewed by workplace relations lawyers to ensure it reflects current Australian WHS law and duties. It is designed to help you meet your employer's obligation to provide information, training and instruction to workers.

It is not a nationally recognised VET qualification. 'Nationally recognised training' is a protected term that only a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) can deliver, and it results in a unit of competency or a statement of attainment on the national record. Sentrient is not an RTO and does not issue those.

So, which do you need?

If you need to train your workforce in safe manual handling as part of your WHS obligations, induction or annual compliance program - this course is built for exactly that, and 1,000+ Australian businesses use it for that purpose.

If you specifically require a nationally recognised unit of competency (for example, a licensing or funding condition that names one), you will need an RTO. We would rather tell you that now than sell you the wrong thing.

That covers five modules: what manual handling is, common hazards, roles and responsibilities, HIRAC (hazard identification, risk assessment and control), and how to report a manual handling risk.

Fifteen minutes is deliberate. Manual handling training only works if people complete it. A course your team finishes in a tea break gets a 90%+ completion rate; a half-day workshop does not.

There is no single interval written into Australian WHS law. The law requires that you provide training and refresh it whenever the circumstances change.

In practice, most Australian employers run manual handling refresher training annually. We would recommend refreshing sooner than that if any of the following happen:

• A worker changes role or starts performing new manual handling tasks
• New equipment, layouts or lifting aids are introduced
• A manual handling incident or near-miss occurs
• A risk assessment identifies a new or changed hazard
• Relevant WHS regulations or codes of practice are updated

The content reflects the model WHS laws that apply in NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, the ACT, the Northern Territory and the Commonwealth. Victoria operates under its own Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, and New Zealand under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. The duties around manual handling are materially the same in each, and the course is written to hold true across all of them.

If you are specifically looking for face-to-face manual handling training in your city, this is not it. This is online training you can roll out everywhere at once.

The course is built to support your obligations under the WHS Act and WHS Regulations, specifically the duty to provide workers with the information, training and instruction they need to work safely, and the duty to manage hazardous manual tasks.

Be aware of what training can and cannot do. Completing a course does not by itself make an organisation compliant. Your obligations also include identifying manual handling hazards in your workplace, assessing and controlling the risk, consulting your workers, and keeping records. This course covers the training and awareness component, and Sentrient gives you the records to prove it was delivered.

The general manual handling course is suitable for all employees, contractors and volunteers across any industry. It covers hazard identification, risk assessment, safe technique and reporting.

The assessment at the end of the manual handling course is there to check understanding, not to catch people out. If a learner does not pass, they can review the content and try again straight away. Managers can see who is stuck and who has passed, which is often more useful than the pass rate itself: if several people fail the same question, that usually tells you something about a real risk in your workplace.
