Sentrient's HR software for remote teams is an all-in-one Australian HR and compliance platform for businesses whose staff work from home, across states or in different time zones. It covers recruitment, online onboarding, policy sign-off, compliance training, timesheets, performance reviews, incident reporting and employee records in one login that works from any location.
HR Software for Remote Teams
A simple-to-implement, easy-to-use, and reliable HR software for remote teams in Australia. Onboard new starters online, share policies and training wherever people work, keep employee records in one place, and give managers a clear view of a workforce spread across homes, states and time zones. Built for Australian and New Zealand employers.
HR Software for Remote Teams and Hybrid Workforces
Managing a remote team means running HR without a shared office. New starters need contracts, policies and inductions before their first video call. Managers need to know who has finished training, who has a check or registration about to expire, and who has not been heard from this week. The obligations do not shrink when people work from home. Safe Work Australia states that WHS laws apply when workers work from home, so employers must manage the risks and consult with workers about them. Fair Work rules set a written response within 21 days to a flexible working request, and the right to disconnect now applies to employees of small businesses too. Sentrient’s HR software for remote and hybrid workforces gives Australian businesses one platform to onboard, train, sign off policies, log incidents and keep audit-ready records, wherever staff sit.

FAQs About Our HR Software for Remote Teams
Straight answers to the questions HR managers and business owners ask before choosing HR software for a remote or hybrid team.
Yes. Sentrient is built and supported in Australia for Australian and New Zealand employers. The preloaded policies and courses reflect Australian workplace law, including working from home, flexible working and workplace conduct, and the platform is used by remote and hybrid teams from Perth to Hobart as well as staff based overseas. Technology teams that are remote by default can see the identity and device integrations on our HR software for IT companies page.
Remote teams typically use an HR platform for onboarding, records, policies, training and performance, alongside separate tools for chat, video, project management and payroll. The HR platform is the system of record. Sentrient fills that role: it holds the employee record, runs onboarding and training online and keeps the compliance evidence, while your communication and payroll tools stay as they are.
Sentrient does not process payroll, build rosters, run video calls or chat, or monitor employees through screenshots, app tracking or GPS. It is the HR and compliance layer that sits beside those tools. Payroll and accounting data can flow through integrations with Xero, MYOB and KeyPay, and single sign-on works with Okta and Microsoft Entra ID.
Yes. Each employee record holds the checks, licences, registrations and documents you need to see, with expiry dates and reminders. That covers police checks, Working with Children Checks, professional registrations, visas and right-to-work evidence, driver licences and any qualification you define. Sentrient records what is supplied and reminds you before expiry. Verifying the check with the issuing body remains your responsibility.
Set the expiry date on the credential in Sentrient and automated reminders go to the employee and their manager before it runs out, however far from head office they are. A report lists every credential due to expire, so HR can chase renewals early instead of finding a lapsed check at audit time.
Yes. Safe Work Australia states that WHS laws apply when workers work from home just as they do in an office, so a business must manage health and safety risks so far as is reasonably practicable and consult workers about them. Sentrient supports this with a Working From Home course, online hazard and incident reporting, workstation checklists and policy acknowledgement records. The business remains responsible for meeting its WHS duties. Equipment supplied for work at home is recorded in our asset management software for remote teams.
The Fair Work Ombudsman states that eligible employees can request flexible working arrangements such as working from home, and employers must respond in writing within 21 days and can only refuse on reasonable business grounds. Employees also have a right to refuse unreasonable out-of-hours contact. Sentrient stores the request, the written response and your related policies with sign-off records. The employer remains responsible for how it responds.
Sentrient's library includes Working From Home, Managing Remote Teams, Cyber Security and Data Breach Notification, Privacy, Psychological Health and Safety, Health and Wellbeing, Code of Conduct, Work Health and Safety, Workplace Bullying, Sexual Harassment, Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity and Inclusion. Courses are online, take around 15 minutes each and end with an assessment and declaration that is recorded against the employee.
Yes. Automation rules assign courses at onboarding and reassign them on the cycle you choose, such as every 12 months for conduct and safety topics. Remote staff get reminders by email, managers see who is overdue, and the completion history stays on the employee record, so annual refreshers happen without HR chasing each person individually.
Contracts, remote work agreements, flexible working requests and responses, policy acknowledgements, training completions, credentials and expiry dates, timesheets, performance notes, incident reports and personal details, all on one employee record with controlled access. The Fair Work Ombudsman states that employers must keep time and wages records for seven years, so Sentrient retains records rather than deleting them.
Reports pull the evidence in minutes: who has completed which course and when, who has acknowledged which policy version, which credentials are current, and what incidents were logged and closed. Because remote staff complete everything in the platform, there is no chasing scanned forms from home offices. You export the report and hand it over.
From a browser or phone, wherever they are. The employee completes an online incident or hazard form, it goes to the right manager, and every step from report to investigation to close-out is recorded. Safe Work Australia lists workstation setup, trip hazards, fatigue and psychosocial hazards among the common risks when working from home, and an easy reporting route is how you hear about them.
Most remote starters complete their onboarding in one sitting. The onboarding checklist sends forms, contract, policies and induction courses the moment the offer is accepted, and the employee works through them online before day one. HR sees progress in real time, so a new starter in another state can be fully inducted before their first team call.
Yes. Sentrient holds records for employees, casuals, contractors and volunteers in the same platform, with the courses, policies and credentials each group needs. Overseas contractors can complete onboarding and training in the same way as staff in Australia. Sentrient does not handle overseas payroll or employer-of-record services, so those stay with your provider.
Yes. Organise people by location, team or entity and report on each one or on the whole workforce. A manager in Brisbane sees their team, HR in Melbourne sees everyone, and policies or courses can be assigned by group, so a state-specific requirement goes only to the people it applies to.
Remote staff leave when they feel unseen. Sentrient gives them a structured start, regular recorded one-on-ones, clear goals, recognition on the community wall and a place to raise concerns. Managers see engagement and completion trends early, so disengagement is visible before a resignation. None of this replaces good management, but it makes good management repeatable across a dispersed team.
Set goals, schedule one-on-ones and record feedback in Sentrient so the conversation exists outside a video call. Performance reviews run on a set cycle with reminders. The Managing Remote Teams course gives supervisors a shared approach to expectations, communication and productivity, and the learning library lets you assign development courses to individuals or whole teams.
Yes. Sentrient runs in a browser on any phone, tablet or laptop, so remote staff can complete onboarding, training, timesheets, policy sign-off and incident reports from wherever they are working. Nothing needs to be set up on the device, which suits teams working on their own equipment.
Because it is Australian, all-in-one and simple enough that remote staff use it without a help desk. Onboarding, training, policies, records, timesheets, performance and incident reporting sit in one login. Compliance evidence is built up as people work, not reconstructed at audit time. Support comes from a team in Australia who know Australian workplace obligations.
Any Australian or New Zealand business with staff spread across homes, offices, states or countries, from startups and IT companies to national associations and research institutes. Published clients with dispersed workforces include The George Institute for Global Health, Engineers Australia, DWS Group and E3 Advisory.
Implementation runs online, which suits a remote team. The Sentrient team sets up your organisation, loads employees, applies your policies and course library and configures automation rules, then trains your HR and managers by video. Because the platform comes preloaded with courses, policies and forms, you are not building a library from scratch before going live.
