HR Policy Templates
HR policy templates are usually treated as a one-off task. Download, adapt, publish, done. The problem shows up two years later, when the document is still there and the law behind it has moved.
Recent Australian changes give a sense of the pace. Positive duty obligations on sexual harassment. Psychosocial hazard regulations under work health and safety. The right to disconnect. Each of those makes at least one existing policy incomplete.
The practical fix is a review cycle with an owner and a date, not a reminder in someone’s calendar. Set an annual review for every policy, an immediate trigger review when legislation changes, and a record of which version each person acknowledged and when.
That last part is what you produce if the policy is ever tested, and it is the part most organisations cannot produce.
