Best Cloud-Based HR Systems

Comparing the best cloud-based HR systems on features misses the questions that matter once your employee records are in somebody else’s infrastructure.

Where does the data sit? Employee records include personal and sometimes health information. Knowing which country holds it is the starting point for any privacy assessment.

Who at the vendor can reach it? Support access to production data is normal and should be controlled, logged and disclosed to you.

What happens if you leave? You still have to produce records after the contract ends. Ask for an export in a readable format and ask what it costs.

Vendors answer all three of those readily enough when asked. The questions simply never come up in a standard feature demonstration.
