Employee Induction Checklist
An employee induction checklist and an onboarding checklist get used interchangeably, and they are not the same thing.
Onboarding is the whole process of bringing someone into the organisation, including the social and administrative parts. Induction is narrower and carries a duty. It is about the information, training, instruction and supervision needed for a person to work safely.
Two consequences follow. Induction applies to people who are not employees, including contractors, labour hire workers and in some cases visitors, because the duty is owed to workers rather than to the payroll. And it repeats when someone moves to a different site or takes on different work.
Keeping the induction list separate makes both of those easier to manage.
