Employee Onboarding Process
The employee onboarding process runs across four stages, and most organisations manage the middle one well and the other three by accident.
Pre-boarding. Between offer acceptance and the first day. Contracts, forms, clearances and keeping the person warm. This is where second thoughts happen and where most compliance evidence should be collected.
Day one and week one. Access, equipment, introductions, site induction. Usually the only stage with a written checklist.
The first ninety days. Role clarity, early feedback, and the point at which someone decides whether they made the right choice.
Confirmation. A deliberate conversation at the end of any probation period rather than a date passing silently.
The fourth is skipped more than any other, and it is the one that leaves both sides unsure where they stand.
