Essential Features to Look for in HRMS
The essential features to look for in HRMS are rarely the ones on the comparison sheet, because adoption is decided by a handful of unglamorous things.
Permissions that are granular enough. Managers should see their team and not the whole organisation. If the model is coarse, you will either over-expose personal information or lock managers out entirely.
Mobile that works properly. Most employee interactions happen on a phone. A desktop product with a compressed layout is not mobile access.
Self-service that does not need HR. If updating a bank account or an address routes through HR, nothing was saved.
Bulk actions and exports. Because something always needs correcting for two hundred people at once, and doing it individually is nobody’s idea of a system.
The Fair Work Ombudsman covers privacy of employee records. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
