HR software compliance Fair Work Act
HR software compliance Fair Work Act obligations are often described as though a product could deliver them. It cannot. What it can do is create the evidence.
The obligations it helps with are specific. Employee records made and kept for seven years, in a form that can be produced. Pay slips issued within the required time and containing the required content. Records of hours, leave taken and leave balances. The Fair Work Information Statement given to every new employee.
What software cannot do is tell you which award applies or what classification somebody sits at. Those are judgements, and they are where the expensive errors live.
Treat any claim that a product makes you compliant with the Act as marketing rather than as fact.
The Fair Work Ombudsman publishes the record-keeping requirements. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
