Integration Methods and Approaches
The integration methods and approaches on offer come down to three, and the cheapest to start is the one that costs most over time.
Manual re-keying. No setup and no cost. Every change is entered twice, so the systems disagree within weeks and nobody knows which is right.
Scheduled file transfer. A file exported and imported on a cycle. Workable, and it means data is stale between runs, which matters for access and terminations.
Direct connection. Systems talk continuously. Most reliable, most setup, and it requires somebody to own it when a vendor changes something.
Choose by consequence rather than by cost. Anything where staleness creates real risk, such as revoking access on termination, needs the third method. A quarterly training report does not.
The Fair Work Ombudsman covers records and timeliness. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
