manual handling training health care
Manual handling training health care providers deliver tends to focus on the single unsafe lift. Most injuries are not caused that way.
They accumulate. Dozens of ordinary transfers across a shift, each individually manageable, performed with progressively less care as fatigue builds. The final one gets recorded as the cause and it was the last of many.
Which makes two things worth teaching alongside technique. That fatigue changes how a transfer is performed, and that the end of a shift and night duty are the higher risk periods. And that reporting discomfort early, before it becomes an injury, is the intended behaviour rather than a complaint.
Rostering is part of the control here, which makes this a scheduling question as much as a training one.
Safe Work Australia covers hazardous manual tasks and fatigue. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
