NDIS Audit

An NDIS audit is frequently prepared for by improving the documents. That is the wrong half of the work.

The audit type depends on the supports delivered. Lower risk supports generally attract a verification audit, which is largely a desktop check. Higher risk supports attract a certification audit, which is broader and includes speaking with workers and participants.

In either case the question is the same. Not whether a policy exists, but whether the practice matches it. Auditors ask a worker what they would do if they suspected abuse, and compare the answer to the policy. They ask for the incident register and follow one entry through to its outcome.

The gap between the document and the practice is what gets found.

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission publishes audit requirements. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
