Online 360 Feedback System
An online 360 feedback system fails most often on response rates rather than on question design. Four settings do most of the work.
- Length. Anything over about fifteen questions per subject gets abandoned, particularly by people rating several colleagues in the same round.
- Timing. Not at month end, not during peak season, and not in the same fortnight as an engagement survey.
- Rater load. Cap how many reviews one person is asked to complete. Ten requests produces ten rushed answers.
- Reminders from the right sender. From the system, never from the person being reviewed, which quietly pressures the respondent into replying.
A low response rate is worse than running no survey at all, because a thin sample still produces a confident-looking report, and that report will be built on two or three opinions.
