Pre-Onboarding Checklist
A pre-onboarding checklist deals with a period most organisations leave empty. The contract is signed, and then nothing happens for several weeks.
That silence is when a new starter is still talking to other employers and still able to change their mind. It is also wasted time, because several things could be finished before day one.
Practical items. Contract returned and filed. Bank, tax and superannuation details collected. The required information statements issued. Pre-employment checks completed where the role requires them. Equipment ordered rather than ordered on the morning. Access requested. First week outlined so the person knows what to expect.
Keep in touch during the gap. A short message from the manager does more for a start date holding than the induction pack does.
