Psychological Health And Safety Training
Psychological health and safety training is a control measure, and it is worth being precise about which part of the duty it addresses. Training builds awareness and capability. It does not by itself identify hazards, assess risk or change how work is designed.
Content that earns its place covers what a psychosocial hazard is with real examples, the risk management steps and who is responsible for each, how to recognise and report a psychosocial hazard, what workers and managers can each control, and how this connects to bullying, harassment and fatigue rather than sitting apart from them.
Managers need more than workers do, because most psychosocial hazards live in decisions managers make about workload, rostering, role clarity and support.
Keep the completion record. Where a regulator asks what steps you took, evidence that the right people were trained and when is part of the answer.
Safe Work Australia publishes the model Code of Practice. This is general information rather than legal advice.
