Risk Management Software Features
Risk management software features look similar across products. Registers, ratings, dashboards and reminders are common to all of them.
Two features separate the useful ones.
An audit trail that cannot be quietly overwritten. When a rating is downgraded or a control marked complete, can you still see what it said before, who changed it and when. If a system silently overwrites, its record proves nothing after an incident.
Ownership that is enforced. A system that will not let a risk be saved without a named owner and a review date prevents the failure mode every register has, which is orphaned entries nobody looks at.
Everything else is convenience. These two are what you rely on when somebody asks what you knew and when.
Safe Work Australia covers the duty to manage risks. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
