Software Integration
Software integration between HR systems is usually tested with a new starter, which is the easy case. The revealing case is somebody changing role.
One change should ripple through several systems. Manager updates, which changes approvals. Pay changes. Access rights change, both granted and removed. Training assignment changes, because the new role has different requirements. Reporting lines change.
Most integrations handle create and delete and quietly fail on update. The person keeps the old manager’s approvals, retains access they no longer need, and never gets assigned the training their new role requires.
Test any integration with a role change and with a rehire rather than with a new starter, because those are the two cases that expose the weak connections.
The Fair Work Ombudsman covers records that must reflect those changes. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
