What Is Conflict Management Training
What is conflict management training, and why is it named differently from resolution training? The distinction is real and worth holding onto when you choose a course.
Resolution is about settling a dispute you are part of. You have a position, the other person has one, and the training helps you get to something workable.
Management is about handling conflict you are not a party to, and about keeping it at a productive level rather than removing it. That includes noticing early signals, deciding whether to intervene, choosing between coaching and a formal process, and following up.
Conflict management is mostly a supervisory capability, so if you are buying for team leaders and managers, that is usually the right description of what you actually need. Read the course outline rather than the course name, because providers use the two terms loosely and often interchangeably.
Safe Work Australia covers the related psychosocial duty. This is general information rather than legal advice.
