What Is Conflict Resolution Training
What is conflict resolution training? In plain terms, it is structured practice in having a disagreement well, rather than avoiding it until someone escalates.
A course that earns its place usually covers four things. Recognising the type of conflict you have, since task, process and relationship disputes need different responses. Opening the conversation, which is the part people find hardest. Listening in a way that changes your own position rather than waiting for a turn to speak. And knowing what is not yours to resolve, because bullying, discrimination and safety matters are not disputes to mediate.
What it is not is a personality assessment or a set of models to memorise. If nobody said anything difficult out loud during the session, very little will transfer to Monday.
Unresolved conflict is a recognised psychosocial hazard. Safe Work Australia covers that duty. This is general information rather than legal advice.
