What Is Manual Handling Certificate
What is manual handling certificate status actually worth, and what does it prove? The distinction matters when you are asked to substantiate a claim.
What it evidences. That a named person completed specified content on a specified date. That is what a work health and safety duty generally requires you to show, and it is genuinely useful.
What it is not. A licence, an accredited qualification, or certification that the person is competent to perform a specific task. There is no licence required for manual handling in the way there is for a forklift or high risk work.
Two practical implications. Describing a completion certificate as accreditation in a tender response is a claim you may be asked to support. And for equipment or people-moving, you need assessed competence recorded separately.
Safe Work Australia covers the training duty. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
