What is medication management training for, in a support or care setting rather than a clinical one?
The distinction it exists to teach is between assisting with medication and administering it. A support worker assisting is helping a person take medication they have been prescribed. That is a different act from a clinician administering, and the boundaries around it matter.
Content typically covers the rights checks before assisting, what to do when a dose is refused or missed, recognising and reporting an error rather than concealing it, safe storage, and knowing when a task is outside the worker’s scope.
Requirements differ by state and territory and by service type, so check what applies to your setting rather than assuming a single national standard.
