Conflict Training In The Workplace
Conflict training in the workplace has a high forgetting rate, for a reason worth naming. Most of it teaches models and frameworks, and the moment it is needed is a difficult conversation nobody has rehearsed.
What survives contact with a real dispute is practice. Saying the opening sentence out loud. Handling the moment the other person becomes defensive. Staying with the issue when it starts to feel personal. None of that transfers from a diagram.
So the design test is simple. Does the training ask people to say something, or only to recognise something. Scenario work, even brief, beats another model.
Managers need more than everyone else, because they run the conversation rather than participating in it, and they carry the outcome afterwards. Budget the practice time before you budget the content. Safe Work Australia covers the related psychosocial duty. This is general information rather than legal advice.
