EEO Courses
EEO courses are typically rolled out to the whole workforce once a year. Universal coverage is reasonable, and four groups need considerably more than the general module.
- Anyone on a hiring panel. Including the technical expert brought in for one interview, who has usually had no training at all.
- Anyone who allocates work. Development and visible projects accumulate into a promotion case, and allocation is where that starts.
- Anyone writing job advertisements or position descriptions. Inherited wording is where indirect discrimination most often sits.
- Anyone deciding a flexible work request. There is a process, a timeframe and a written response requirement.
The first group is the one most often missed, because they are not managers and do not appear on any training list.
The Australian Human Rights Commission covers discrimination obligations. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
