Human Resources Manual Template
A human resources manual template is not hard to produce. The failure comes at delivery, and the point of failure is almost always induction.
The usual pattern is that a new starter receives the whole manual on day one, alongside contracts, system logins, payroll forms and an office tour. They tick the box. They have not read it, and both sides know that.
Staging it works better. At induction, cover the few policies that carry immediate obligations, conduct, safety, and how to report something. Then release the rest over the first month in small groups, each with its own acknowledgement.
The other half is retrieval. People do not reread a manual, they search it when something happens, so the manual has to be somewhere they can reach on the day it matters rather than in an email from six months ago.
The Fair Work Ombudsman publishes induction guidance. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
