Online PPE Training
Online PPE training is efficient for the knowledge component and has a clear boundary that should be stated rather than glossed over.
It handles the hierarchy of control, the reasons behind requirements, what applies to which task, inspection and damage recognition, and reporting routes. Consistency and record-keeping are better than they would be for a session run differently at each site.
It cannot confirm that equipment fits an individual, verify that someone can put it on correctly under supervision, or carry out anything requiring physical assessment such as fit testing for respiratory protection.
Use online delivery for the knowledge and pair it with a practical check recorded against the individual. Presenting an online completion as the whole thing overstates what has actually been demonstrated.
Safe Work Australia publishes PPE duties. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
