Workforce Management Overview
A workforce management overview generally describes four stages, and each stage tends to work while the joins between them do not.
Forecast. How much work is expected, by time and location.
Roster. Who is scheduled against that forecast, within award and availability constraints.
Capture. What hours were actually worked, including changes on the day.
Pay. Those hours interpreted against the relevant award or agreement, and then paid correctly and on time.
Errors concentrate at the handoffs between them. A shift swapped verbally on the floor and never recorded anywhere. Overtime worked and not captured. Hours captured accurately but then interpreted against the wrong classification.
Each of those becomes either an underpayment or an overpayment, and both of them are your problem to find and correct.
The Fair Work Ombudsman publishes pay and award requirements. This is general information rather than legal advice, and obligations vary by state and territory.
