Best Compliance Management Software
There is no single best compliance management software, because the right choice depends on which obligations your organisation actually carries and what evidence you need to produce. The useful question is not which product has the longest feature list. It is which one records who did what and when, and lets you retrieve that under pressure.
A sensible way to cut through vendor claims is to evaluate against a recognised framework rather than a demo script. ISO 37301 sets out requirements for a compliance management system, covering obligations, controls, competence, monitoring and review. Australia adopts it identically as AS ISO 37301:2023, which traces back to the older AS 3806 compliance programs standard. ISO confirmed the standard as current in August 2026 following systematic review. Software cannot certify you against it, and no product removes the obligation from your organisation, but a system that maps cleanly onto those elements is far easier to defend than one that does not.
Questions worth putting to a vendor before you shortlist:
- Can it evidence policy sign-off per person and per policy version, and export that for an audit?
- Does it hold risk registers and incidents in the same place, or will you end up running a second GRC system alongside it?
- Can it assign training by role and chase refreshers without someone manually tracking spreadsheets?
- Is the course and policy content written for Australian law, and who updates it when the law moves?
- Where does your data live, who can reach it, and what happens to it if you leave?
Ask for a working trial rather than a slide deck. Load one of your own policies, assign it to a small test group and look at the report that comes out the other end. That single exercise tells you more than any feature comparison. Obligations differ across states and territories and change over time, so treat this as general information rather than legal advice.
